Crosspoint
Crosspoint began as a train station and grain storage facility at a large intersection between two major train routes. After the events of the Breach in 1016, the westward migration of many citizens of Aarden caused massive camps and tent cities to crop up before ultimately becoming built into a large town. Crosspoint now houses the Governor for Aarden's Tothwick county, overseeing Imperial matters from the North Bostiff River to the northern coast. Still one of the most crucial intersections for the Empire's rail lines, Crosspoint houses one of the largest contingents of the holy knights, the Hand of the Creator, outside of Nostor's Keep.
Important People
Sir Edmund Bennett
A seasoned warrior with unwavering devotion to the Church of the Creator, Sir Bennett leads the Hand of the Creator and oversees their operations from both the stronghold monastery of Nostor's Keep, as well as the training grounds for the Hand Paladins at Crosspoint. A frequent visitor to the city, he is respected and feared by its citizens. Standing just under six feet tall, Bennett keeps a clean-shaven head and face - and while a physically fit but otherwise average-appearing man, his connection to the Creator's Light is unmatched within the faith, and his mastery of the radiant magics granted by the Creator is a sight to behold.
Remy Shaw
Governor Shaw is one of the longest-serving Governors in the Empire, second only to Augustus Stone in Noxfeld. The elderly Shaw oversees the Empire's operations in the sparsely populated county of Tothwick and is well-loved and respected by the people he serves. Kind-hearted, and truly good-natured to his core, Governor Remy Shaw lives in a humble estate right in the centre of Crosspoint, and even at the age of 89 years old is still as hands-on and involved in the community as he was in his youth. As such, Remy Shaw also serves as the town's Mayor, having been elected several times over the years - including the most recent election, in which he didn't even step forward as a candidate. The short, dark-skinned octogenarian keeps his thinning white hair tied in a ponytail, his bright eyes give away his energetic nature from behind aged, circular-framed glasses.
Lily Masterson
Dedicated and passionate about children, Lily Masterson is a compassionate and nurturing schoolteacher. Having recently moved to Crosspoint all the way from the distant coastal city-state of Sutherfane, the young woman is already well-liked by her peers and the parents of her students. Moving to a city housing a Hand training facility is something that may seem strange for a person from Sutherfane to do, as the city's irreligious nature and unwelcoming stance towards the Hand are well known around the Empire. In addition to that, Masterson's secular teaching methods occasionally raise eyebrows among her school's more religious parents.
Jason Montgomery
The gruff and pragmatic blacksmith Jason Montgomery operates a small shop in the southwestern district of the town, and maintains a good reputation for being a skilled smith who is particular about his clientele. Seen as distrustful of new customers to the point of appearing rude, Montgomery does so with good reason - the tall, lanky redhead operates as a black market dealer in Relics, the term oft used by Aardenians for magical or enchanted items. Right under the nose of the Hand, Remy is a trustworthy fence and shrewd businessman. The few that he trusts with the true nature of his business are just as scrupulous as he is regarding bringing anyone into their lucrative inner circle.
